I've been posting this all over the Cambridge/Somerville/Boston LJs, not to mention the suspects mailing list, but I should probably also note it here.
Comic book shop The Million Year Picnic is holding a SIGNING on TUESDAY!!!
SHOOTING WAR creators Anthony Lappe and Dan Goldman will be appearing at the Million Year Picnic on Tuesday, 11/27/2007 from 4-6pm.
When I was there Friday, I noticed we have a limited number of the books in stock, so I'd suggest that you come by early if you want to buy a copy first. I'll ask Tony if we're ordering more.
I just finished reading the book earlier tonight and it's pretty intense. I liked that it didn't have a pat, fairytale ending, nor an utterly depressing one. I liked that the characters were human and flawed and articulate and full of quirks. The art doesn't thrill me, but it wasn't distracting either. The mix of art over real photos and the creative use of panel work is really interesting.
Brief synopsis: It's set in 2011. The war in Iraq is still going and there's more terror in America than ever before. A blogger parlays his accidental state of instant celebrity into a job reporting from Baghdad and that's just in the first few pages.
The Million Year Picnic is in Harvard Square, 99 Mt. Auburn Street (downstairs), Cambridge, MA 02138, 671-492-6763. Our LiveJournal is millionyear.
