|Long Damn Days

Kelly J. Cooper
I've had a few long damn days - containing both good and bad - but definitely exhausting overall.
However, I just got to meet one of the authors whose dissertation I edited (he stopped into MYP, where I'm covering a coworker's shift, to give me a couple of printed copies he had made for me through his college) and it was awesome! He's knowledgeable, intelligent, and his dissertation is one of the most excellent things I've ever edited (he wrote about community-based approaches to urban poverty as managed by the UN, the World Bank, and various NGOs and how they seem to forget history as soon as it's over; he compared their various reports over the past 80+ years to his own work in Cambodia in the late 1990's, early 2000's; amazing first person perspective work with an eye on historical successes and failures).
Plus he bought two graphic novels! And he didn't make me feel like a failure for working in a comics shop.
I hope he gets it published. I'll make everyone I know buy a copy.
It's actually pretty rare that I meet my authors these days. We mostly do everything online or through the USPS. And his is my favorite editing job so far, so bonus cool points there.
Thank you, powers that be, for improving my day.
