That Makes Much More Sense Now [Sep. 4th, 2007|01:49 am]

Baseball players, usually pitchers, occasionally have to sit out games due to "back spasms" and I've often wondered what they are.

Well, now I know. I shouldn't have asked. It's like trying to sleep on a rock-sized fist that's covered with jagged bits and keeps moving. Alternately, while stretching it out, it's like being jabbed with dull knitting needles, repeatedly.

Ow.

Ugh. That bites.

Fortunately, mine were tamed by (1) Tylenol, (2) stretching, (3) complete and utter exhaustion. Especially cuz there ain't no Vicodin in da house.

Thanks. I just hope it doesn't repeat.

Thanks for the info.

This one was fairly brief - only tortured me for about an hour.

I think it's due to irritation/inflammation from ongoing digestive issues, so I made an appt. with my doctor. The whole area's been hurting for days, but the spasms were the worst. It still hurts, but I don't know if it's still due to digestive stuff or leftovers from the spasms or both.

My beloved get them now and then, and his solution involves a strong rum drink and a soak in the tub, to relax the muscles. Then another rum drink. I don't know if this makes it hurt less, but it makes him care less about it.

I am not sure if that rules out ibuprofen use.

Hmm. That sounds lovely, except booze gives me lip blisters and I have a heart condition that precludes hot tub use. But perhaps a soak in the regular tub next time...

You have experience being stabbed repeatedly by dull knitting needles?

You've never done much babysitting, have you?
