Ooh! Ooh! Today, 1 April 2007, trowa_barton and hammercock got married! Then they got recepted! And the whole thing was a lot of fun, and funny, and sweet, and touching, and wonderful. I really loved R2D2 as the flower droid. Totally cute!
The service was officiated by jbsegal, who is a real live Justice of the Peace. And kimberlogic was in the ceremony as the Matron of Honor and she looked lovely. I don't know much of anything about the rest of the bridal party, but they LOOKED great and xlii did a marvelous job of being the utility man and all-around go-to guy, helping hold the Chuppah during the ceremony, and acting as trowa_barton's second in the lightsaber duel. (Yes, you read that right, the lightsaber duel.) Both the bride's parents and the groom's Mom outright ROCK! They're really nice people. (For those who heard the male voice holla "Use the force, Laurie!" during the duel - that was her DAD!)
Also of significant note, muffyjo was wonderful as the Mistress of Ceremonies and all around cat herder, tamidon wrangled a massive amount of food (the reception was potluck), lifecollage did a fantastic job with set up (between the ceremony and the reception), mangosteen was everywhere, taking pics of everything, joelll did sound (EDIT: he's kalessin), ablock wrangled parking, and I'm told donnad was totally crucial (but nobody told me what she did! EDIT: see comments!). A bunch of people helped me haul the flower centerpieces (arranged in vases) from the hotel, across the parking lot, and up to the third floor - including r_ness and cthulhia (who also procured a pitcher and watered 'em all without being asked, bless her). People helped Tamar in the kitchen, and helped serve hors d'oeuvres, helped swap empty plates with newly warmed/served up food, and set up the dessert.
And that doesn't even include all of the huge amount of STUFF that trowa_barton, hammercock, kimberlogic, and jbsegal did in the weeks, days, and HOURS before, gathering and ordering supplies, putting M&Ms (personalized with the Bride & Groom's names on some and the date plus "SQUEE!" on the others) in little bags, putting the little bags into champagne flutes, putting ribbons on the flute bases, getting flowers, arranging flowers, designing and printing programs, mail merging and printing name cards, managing the rehearsal dinner, and hundreds upon HUNDREDS of other tasks, large and small, that made a wedding created entirely by the larger susboid community (plus other friends and family) to come together.
And, as dpolicar reminded me, all the attendees bought food or contributed drinks. Bless 'em too.
I was so psyched that I got to contribute to helping make it happen. I know I sound like a COMPLETE and TOTAL dork, but I really groove on helping people. It just rocks.
Love, blessings, and long-term happiness to the newlyweds!
