As requested, here is the list of webcomics recommended by our esteemed panel.

1002, Comics: "The Best Webcomics You're Not Reading" Sat 3:00 PM, 1 HOUR

ROOM: Molly Pitcher

    Kelly J Cooper (aka kjc)
Eric A Burns & Wednesday White > Collectively known as Websnark (although Eric did most of the talking)
    Robert Balder
    The Ferrett
Program Guide Text:
This panel was quite popular last year and this year we'll revisit the idea, with a whole new set of recommended webcomics for you to discover. There are thousands upon thousands of webcomics out there on the great big Internet. They range from wretched to wonderful; from the most mundane to the freakiest of the fantastic. We're going to discuss what we consider to be the best of the best from various genres--and we're sure to cover some you haven't heard of yet.
Panelist Links

Kelly J Cooper: (aka kjc) Eric A. Burns: Wednesday White: Rob Balder:The Ferrett: We worked in rounds, making recommendations.

Round One:

The Ferrett: xkcd by Randall Munroe, http://xkcd.com
Rob Balder: Dresden Codak by Aaron S. Diaz, http://www.dresdencodak.com
Kelly J. Cooper: The Fart Party by Julia Wertz, http://www.fartparty.org
Websnark: The Breakfast of the Gods by Brendan Douglas Jones, http://www.webcomicsnation.com/poyorick/botg/

Round Two: How Do You Find New Webcomics?

The Ferrett: Reviews webcomics on his livejournal theferrett, so people send him stuff to review
Rob Balder: Finds work through The Ferrett, Comixpedia, various industry blogs, top webcomics voting sites (where he burrows down into the stuff in the 200s & 300s), and LJ's most recent image uploads
kjc: Comixpedia and Livejournal (cos got me hooked on As Seen In VT (link below) and tmcm got me hooked on Fart Party)
Wednesday: (Ed note: Weds, did I summarized correctly? -kjc) Finds things through what her friends are linking to and then avoids it until it's faded back into obscurity and then reads it; also seeks stuff that's pissing everyone off; and talks to people (actually prefers word of mouth)
Eric: Receives Websnark emails saying "have you seen this" or "please look at my webcomic!" - he's more interested in stuff by people who ask for feedback

Round Three:

The Ferrett: Malfunction Junction by Matt Milby, http://www.malfunctionjunction.net
Rob Balder: Jesus and Mo by Anonymous, http://www.jesusandmo.net
kjc: Liliane, Bi-Dyke by Leanne Franson, http://liliane.comicgenesis.com/
Websnark: Girl/Robot by Petie Shumate, http://www.brokenlittledreams.com

Round Four:

The Ferrett: DM of the Rings by Shamus Young, http://www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/
Rob Balder: Medium Large by Francesco Marciuliano, http://www.drinkatwork.com/mediumlarge.html
kjc: KittyBot by Claire Barry, http://www.kitty-bot.com/
Websnark: http://www.websnark.com/archives/2007/01/submitted_witho_1.html

(We stopped about 10 minutes before the end of the panel and I turned things over to Eric A. Burns who, using the images you can see here, proposed to his girlfriend Wednesday White.)

And she said "Yes!" and there was much celebration and applause. :)

Plus, just for grins, here are the recommendations that we did NOT manage to get to:

The Ferrett:
The New Adventures of Queen Victoria by P. Sungenis, http://tnaoqv.livejournal.com/
Out There by R.C. Munroe, http://outtherecomic.com/
Goblins by Tarol Hunt, http://goblinscomic.com/ (I think this is the right one)

Rob Balder:
Dreamland Chronicles http://www.thedreamlandchronicles.com/
Minus http://www.kiwisbybeat.com/minus.html
The Adventures of Pathos and Bathos http://www.pathosandbathos.com/index.htm
Sordid City Blues http://www.sordidcityblues.com/
Wonderella http://www.webcomicsnation.com/justinpie/wonderella/series.php

As Seen In VT by Katie Fedigan-Linton, http://asivt.livejournal.com/
Ugly Girl by Nanda, http://nanda.comicgenesis.com

Brain Fist by Daniel Merlin Goodbrey, http://www.moderntales.com/comics/brainfist.php
The Green Avenger by AbbyL, http://www.green-avenger.com/
Where Am I Now? by J. Bakos and R. Smith, http://www.moderntales.com/comics/wain.php

And one of us recommended Minus by Ryan Armand, http://www.kiwisbybeat.com/minus.html, but I dunno who it was.

That is all.

*giggles SO MUCH* at the proposal between Eric and Wednesday.

How very cool!

Yay, Kelly! Thanks for all the data too on all the comics!

That proposal was brilliant.

Also, thanks for the links. I still really like http://partiallyclips.com/, probably second only to xkcd, mentioned above. ;)

Actually, some of them are dumb, but this one is among the reasons I like the strip: http://partiallyclips.com/index.php?id=1476

Thanks for this list! And in no small part because I happen to be on it! :D

Seriously, though, I am glad you helped chronicle the convention. I thoroughly believe we need as near-complete a history of webcomics as we can get, especially in what may still be its early stages.

Good stuff, incidentally. I bought the pitch and added it to my trawl.

Okay, awful good stuff. But you know what I mean.

You are totally welcome for the list. I actually took notes on all 3 of the webcomic panels. I've been debating whether or not to post 'em.

I'm also the one who created and described the panels for Arisia programming. So if you (or anyone else who reads this) have any ideas for a panel for next year, let me know.

Hey, something like 20-30 people got a hand-out that just lists the recommended URLs without attribution or order.

And, this list has had hits from all kinds of crazy places.

Cheer up! I like your comic!
