Request for Recommendations: Music Site(s) [Nov. 2nd, 2010|01:56 am]

OK, enough people have asked that I put my mixes online somewhere so they can listen to them such that I am initiating a Request for Recommendations! (Where "enough" is more than one.)

1. What's your favorite music streaming site for uploading your mixes? (As far as I can tell, you upload your list & the site plays the songs for people who choose the set you uploaded.)

2. Why do you like it?

3. What does it lack?

1. I did a little poking around a while ago, and mixtape.me was the best one I found.

2. I like that it allows for adding tracks both through it's own searchable list of song, and also through pointing to any URL, so you can link to songs on your own server. And you can have playlists of any length.

3. You can't upload MP3s directly. And I don't like the all-black interface.

Also, Here's a comparison of a bunch of mix-tape sites, in case that's helpful.

As mentioned

I'm fond of Soundcloud. Their embeddable player is very nice and the built-in commenting features appeal to me. There's also 8tracks (http://8tracks.com/) which is deliberately somewhat retro but also quite usable from the consumer point of view.
