Kelly's Music Mix: "Fun"

"Infested (Darwin Goodman Mix)" by Course Of Empire from album: Infested!
"Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" by They Might Be Giants from album: Flood
"Rolling" by Soul Coughing from album: El Oso
"Your Auntie Grizelda" by The Monkees from album: The Monkees Anthology
"Kryptonite" by 3 Doors Down from album: The Better Life
"A Kiss To Build A Dream On" by Louis Armstrong from album: The Very Best Of Louis Armstrong
"Just A Girl" by No Doubt from album: Tragic Kingdom
"Lilly" by Pink Martini from album: Hang On Little Tomato
"Ana Ng" by They Might Be Giants from album: Lincoln
"Daydream Believer" by The Monkees from album: The Monkees Anthology
"Manaus = Expectation" by Sanna Kurki-Suonio from album: Musta
"In the Middle, In the Middle, In the Middle" by They Might Be Giants (sung by Robin Goldwasser) from album: No!
"I Think I Love You" by The Partridge Family from album: The Partridge Family Greatest Hits
"The Hell of it" by Paul Williams from album: Phantom of the Paradise Soundtrack
"Rendez-Vu" by The Basement Jaxx from album: Remedy
"Haunted Spaceship" by Sifl & Olly from album: Songs of Season 1 (The Sifl & Olly Show)
"Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" by Pat McCurdy from album: The Sound Of Music
"Dance, Soterios Johnson, Dance" by Jonathan Coulton from album: Thing a Week II
"Tessie" by The Dropkick Murphys from album: The Warrior's Code
"Supernova" by Liz Phair from album: Whip-Smart
"I Am Wonderful" by Pat McCurdy from album: Pat In Person
"Brazil" by Pink Martini from album: Sympathique

Formatting note: whitebird was correct in that, after dumping them out from iTunes into text format, I was able to pull them into MS Excel & got a nice columnar format which was much easier to cut & paste. It also allowed me to include album info with less pain.

Historical note(s): Glen got me into Soul Coughing when he played "Bus to Beelzebub" at The Ranch. Regis got me into Sanna Kurki-Suonio by DARING ME to RESIST dancing to this track. I believe Sifl & Olly was the combined fault of Romkey & Platypus Rex. I think I can blame many of you raving about Jonathan Coulton before I finally caved & listened. Pat McCurdy was an obsession of talk.bizarre Back In The Day and I recently burned a bunch of his albums after unearthing them accidentally one day. I heard Pink Martini on NPR. While I loved Paul Williams as a kid, the Phantom of the Paradise soundtrack is explicitly JB's fault. The Monkees & the Partridge Family reflect my loony upbringing while my love for Louis Armstrong reflects my ever-evolving (for the better, thank goodness) tastes. The Dropkick Murphys are a local obsession, intimately tied to my love of the Boston Red Sox.

Thanks for sharing!

Hmmm, I was trying to find an on-line mix tape generator that would let me make a playlist of this, but none of the site I can find seem to quite do it. But, you know, if you feel inspired to pick a site and start making public mix tapes, I'd love to hear them! :)

Hey, public mix tapes! Huh. I noticed people do that, but it never occurred to me to do it m'self.

Yeah, some things I mix are a bit obscure. But Pat McCurdy's finally putting stuff on iTunes, so things are gradually getting out into the world more.

Now if only I could find the Peter Fox (German guy) album that contains "Alles Neu" I'd be a lot happier.

I can burn you a CD if you like.

I'd love a CD! I know some of the music listed in this mix, but there's a lot more that I suspect I'd really enjoy.

And congrats on your networking experience! Have you ever tried going to one of the DARBI networking lunches? I go from time to time; maybe we could go together some time.

I have not made it to DARBI. I RSVP'd for a lunch once, but overslept.

I don't think I'll have the energy for the cocktail meet-n-greet tomorrow (Thursday) night, but I signed up for their newsletter. If you don't get a ping from me next time a lunch comes along, drop me a note.

I need to pick up some writable CDs. I'll burn you a mix after that.

OK, that's neat

Manaus = Expectation by Sanna Kurki-Suonio I can't find this one at the moment but I'm listening to a bunch of other stuff that's up on YouTube.

Re: OK, that's neat

Glad you're enjoying the tunes!

She's Finnish if that helps. And if you just look for "Manaus" you should find the track. I believe "Expectation" might be the translation.

Re: OK, that's neat

Yeah, I found someone else doing a song by that title, but it was a very different style than her stuff.
