Last week, I managed to update the file every day. This week? Well, I started this file sometime after 4am on Wednesday night/Thursday morning.
Monday, 27 November 2006 - Despite two wake-up calls, I slept all day. Grabbed a shower and wandered into the ATL after everyone had left and did three hours worth of work. Came home to Christmas lights. Ate leftovers with noodles and beans, while watching Monday Night Football. Eventually logged in, read email & LJ, and (of course) stayed up late.
Tuesday, 28 November 2006 - Slept late, despite wake-up attempts from the BF, who was home dealing with car repairs. Got to Circlet around 4pm-ish, dozed off, woke up, slapped four orders together (putting the labels on the WRONG SIDES of three boxes, duh) and dashed off to meet misschance at the Porter Square Bookstore, dropping the packages in a blue box on the way. We poked around the travel section (where I got my Prague book), then I wandered over to the writing section, where I picked up Grant writing for Dummies and a couple books on travel writing. They shooed us out, but gave us free pastry to make up for it, and I wandered home while misschance and totient went off to find dinner.
Home, we ate burritos/quesadillas with leftover turkey. I watched L&O: SVU on broadcast (Liv is back, thank the networks), then recordings of Veronica Mars (yay for finally resolving the rape cases; but boo for segueing directly into the next big mystery) and Studio 60. Once done with the stupid shiny box, I went to the other, smarter shiny box.
Got in bed by 3am, but could NOT sleep.
Wednesday, 29 November 2006 - The not-sleeping until around dawn spilled into not waking up until around 4 or 5pm. Read a couple of short stories, then got up. The BF came home shortly afterward, around 6pm-ish (early, having picked up his car).
Hauled in the mail and water delivery, chatted with the BF, read email, grabbed a shower, watched Bones then helped make calzones filled with Turkey Day leftovers while watching most of Criminal Minds, then Medium.
Upstairs for a little more email & LJ.
Spent a couple hours digging up notebooks and calendars to update my Continuing Personal Education (CPE) credits for maintaining my CISSP certification. I did not do a very good job these past three years of performing my extra-curricular security education duties. I have 80 solid credits, and I need 120. I threw in the Copy Editing class and the Grantwriting class under the "Professional Skills Activities" (AKA Group B) for 20 credits, which leaves me at a shaky 100 credits (I don't know if they'll be accepted; courses don't have to be security related, but they might have to be from an accredited institution and I don't know if the CCAE counts). Fortunately, I have 60 more days to pick up credits. Unfortunately, while I can probably manage to accrue 20 credits in that time period, I don't know if I'll be able to get 40. Bahumbug. I should re-read my notebooks and make sure I didn't miss any security-related activities.
Thursday, 30 November 2006 - Slept late, got a wake-up call, read a bit, then called my Mom to wish her a happy birthday. Went into the ATL for 1.5 hours, then went back to my place to hang out with rmd so she could supervise while I cleaned (she also processed some mail for me). We ate yummy sushi and watched CSI. Amusingly, the last two episodes have been repeats and BOTH are repeats of episodes that I missed earlier in the season.
Got a bunch of cleaning done, including filling two paper bags to bursting with recycling.
Friday, 1 December 2006 - Slept until 2pm. Got up & talked to myp_tony who couldn't meet me for the late lunch we planned. I went and got the mail, then went back to bed and slept until well after the BF came home. Got up, showered, watched cheesy TV. Stayed up late playing with the Internets.
Saturday, 2 December 2006 - Went to bed around 5am-ish. Couldn't sleep til after dawn. The BF woke me up to run errands. Grabbed a shower, ate lunch, then off we went, first to the National Liquidation Warehouse (the only place the BF can get his favorite snack food), then Target, then Bed, Bath & Beyond, and finally K-Mart looking for a glass container to hold spaghetti. How friggin' hard is it to find a glass container for spaghetti? Let me tell you, pretty damn hard. We got new flannel sheets (warm!), a couple small throw blankets, and a present for a soon-to-be six-year-old (or is it seven? I think it's seven). I also picked up 4 glass jars of various (large) sizes (though none big enough for unbroken spaghetti or fettucine) to continue moth-proofing our food (there are fewer of them, but still the little fuckers persist). And I got sox. Whoopee. We like to party hardy.
We picked up turkey kielbasa, cabbage, & dijon mustard at Stop & Shop on the way home to make what we call "Polish dinner" - it's potatoes, in small chunks, on the bottom of a big pot (in enough water to just cover them), then kielbasa (cut into four pieces) on top of the potatoes, and half a head of cabbage (cut into four quarters) on top of that. You boil the water, which heats the kielbasa and steams the cabbage while cooking the potatoes. It's served topped with dijon mustard microwaved with butter. We find it to be YUMMY but many people find it to be disgusting.
I cleaned the bedroom so the BF could replace the windows, then logged in to take a break, then went downstairs to eat dinner, then cleaned until the BF went to bed (well, I finished around when he was getting reading to climb in). I went back upstairs to the Internet to wind down a bit, then headed off to bed by 2am (exhausted).
So that's TWICE I cleaned this week! Woo!
Sunday, 3 December 2006 - Woke up around 1 or 2pm, finished Deep Survival: Who Lives, Who Dies, and Why by Laurence Gonzales. rmd loaned it to me and it kicks serious ass! Highly recommended review of various accidents and "got lost" or stranded incidents mixed with detailed discussions of why accidents happen and what's going on in people's minds when they screw up plus a generous dollop of philosophy. Very intriguing, very logical, very interesting.
Got up and showered, made myself some cold soba noodles, watched the end of the Patriots game (football), then helped replace windows. Damn lotta work!
Watched Cold Case, then Without a Trace. Football ended on time, so those shows did as well, so I switched over and watched Dexter which was quite good, if profoundly disturbing.
The BF made a fabulous dinner of white beans and two kinds of pork and interesting flavors, and served it over noodles. Quite yummy.
After TV (as above for me, more football for him), we made the bed and then he climbed in while I went upstairs for more Internets.
But it was quite the busy weekend, so I'm crashing a little early (for me).
Not a very productive week, but a hella productive weekend.
