Still in Lyon, France. To no one's surprise, I slept through Tuesday. Man, I was friggin' tired. Unfortunately, that meant I stayed up all night. But, on the plus side, I got out of bed early today (Wednesday) & made it to the free brunch we get with our Executive Suite (the BF is a member with many points) and ate the BEST GODDAMN SCRAMBLED EGGS I have ever had in my entire LIFE. Wow.

Spent the day wandering around Parc de la Tete D'Or here in Lyon. It's apparently one of the oldest parks in the world and was the home of the first giraffe on European soil!

It's stunning. Especially the Roseraie, which I'm guessing is the Rose Garden. Very few roses are in bloom, but the Irises! Oh my goodness, the IRISES! So many different colors, such spectacular blooms! I think we missed the tulips, but the poppies look awesome.

The gardeners here have a fantastic talent for growing gorgeous stuff AND they can do that layering thing that's so hard - ground cover, low-lying flowering plants, tall plants, bushes, and trees. Nothing lacks for coverage.

Fantastic smells too. Around 2:30pm, the whole Roseraie smelled like rose perfume roasting in the hot sun.

I saw a Mallard duck & drake with two ducklings, and I saw some sort of goose & gander with their four goslings. SO CUTE! Neither the BF nor I remembered the cable for downloading pics, so you'll just have to wait.

The Park has a large lake, a gazillion pathways of various sizes, many MANY very comfortable benches, a stadium, a small train for kids, streams everywhere (and consequently many little and big bridges - one covered wooden bridge stole my heart), a zoo, and a Botanical Garden. I only manged to cover the upper 2/3rds of the place. My plan for tomorrow is to visit the Botanical Gardens & add it to my list of Botanical Gardens I've visited around the world (so far, I think I've got Montreal, second only to Kew Gardens in London for size; Singapore, noted for its collection of orchids; and one other, I think... where the hell was that?).

A gardener tried to piss me off (by raking and raking and coming closer and closer, looking like he was about to rake me feet, so I simply stepped out of his way, then stepped back after he passed to continue photographing the flowers I was working on) but it did NOT work. YOU HEAR THAT FROGGY?! DIDN'T WORK!!! I was in too good a mood.

And I got my first "the French like you Americans better now that you've elected Obama" dig from a Frog. C'est la vie. C'est la guerre. C'est la pome de terre.

I came back to the room around 3pm to take a break and ended up sleeping through the rest of the day/evening. But I'm tired again, so I'm hoping I can go back to sleep for a little while.

I have written down all your addresses! (See previous post if you want to add yours.) If you don't get a postcard from France, you may get one from Barcelona, Spain or even Amsterdam, the Netherlands! Miss you guys, but having much fun... later!
