Fun: eight hours of zombie movies at the BostonSci-Fi.com Zombie Marathon 2007 in Somerville's own theater (in Davis Square) with rmd, clauclauclaudia, metagnat, joev and many MANY others whose LJ names I do not know).
Not fun: walking home at 3:30am after watching eight hours of zombie movies at the BostonSci-Fi.com Zombie Marathon 2007 in Somerville's own theater (in Davis Square) ALONE. (The marathon is actually 12 hours long, but I've got to work later today.)
Skills I need to learn before the Zombipocalypse:
- Hotwiring cars
- Riding scooters and motorcycles
- Using a samurai sword without killing myself
- Welding, A-Team style
Skills I need to practice before the Zombipocalypse:
- Making chain mail
- Sharpening dull blades
- Emergency medicine
If you're not getting enough Zombie action in your life, I highly recommend Image's monthly comic, The Walking Dead. There are six trade paperbacks so far, and they are about to start the 8th story arc in the individual issues (which are up to #42 or so, while the trades only cover #1-36). Although there's a fair amount of action and gore, the story mainly focuses on the toll that the death of civilization and the continued existence of Zombies has on a handful of relatively healthy humans. MYP has all the trades in stock, currently, and can get them PDQ if we sell out.
After we watched Dead Alive (AKA Braindead, its original kiwi title), rmd commented, "Oh yeah, this director? Definitely Oscar material!" Heh.
