For those of you who wanted to put up flyers for me in your community, here is the latest flyer:

http://www.kjcedits.com/kjcedits_flyer.pdf

I'll be dropping this version off with the copy guy Tuesday to get somewhere between 4-500 copies made, then I'll give them to Flyer Distribution Service, which seems to be run by a really nice guy named Jamie, who will in turn put them up all over Cambridge and Boston.

If there's a bulletin board at work, or in your favorite coffee shop, or at the adult education center where you're taking a class, or in your church's community room, or whatever public display thinger you see around you and you slap one of my posters up there, I will be VERY GRATEFUL. It really doesn't matter where you are (I'm working for a guy in Virginia right now).

THANK YOU!

YAY! As I'm down here right now, I'll put them up at American University, G'town and GW. Sam can put one at St. John's and the City Dock coffee shop.

Not offended at all! I love constructive criticism.

I may have to pick up a copy of the book...

Also, if I get any leads from random posters out there in the world, I'll let ya'll know.

And this sounds like a good book to add to my mental bookshelf for small businesses.

So far, the other books on that bookshelf are:
  • Multiple Streams of Coaching Income by Andrea J. Lee which does a fantastic job of explaining the consumer funnel
  • Guerilla Marketing for Free by Jay Conrad Levinson, which is a good intro to Levinson's schtick and a good way to wrap yer brain around the ideas behind Guerilla Marketing in general
  • Guerilla Marketing for Writers by Jay Conrad Levinson, Rick Frishman, & Michael Larsen which has the best take I've found so far on how to market yourself as part of the package with whatever it is you're selling
  • Getting Things Done by David Allen on how to organize yourself
  • The Story Factor: inspiration, influence, and persuasion through the art of storytelling by Annett Simmons, which is an excellent work on how to communicate with people without pissing them off
I see these books all as tools for small businesses or one-person businesses to figure out how to work with and sell to other individuals, small businesses, and large businesses.

Actually, the storytelling book is pretty non-evil. She's a business person who got involved with storytelling and realized its use to the business world in order to mediate conflict, open up minds that are closed to change, get past disagreements that seem to have no middle ground, and generally help break the ice when coming into a new (and possibly hostile) environments.

She stresses that the story must be true or mostly true (you can change details to minimize embarrassment or keep it anonymous or whatever) but she emphasizes that if you're faking it, people will know it (even if it's on a subconscious level).

I think you'd like it. It would probably add to your already formidable arsenal of personal tools.
