Tis The Season To Be Itchy [Aug. 12th, 2008|04:43 pm]

Everybody knows this already, right?

If you have an itchy mosquito bite, you run hot tap water over the back of a spoon, then press the spoon to the bite. The heat denatures the protein that causes the itching. (It works with any metal object, really, but a spoon is the most convenient and useful.)

I've heard/read folks advocating using a lighter or the stove to warm the spoon, but that can heat the spoon to temperatures that could cause a serious burn.

Well that explains why a hot hot shower works so well! Thank you!
